15 Largest Fast Food Restaurant Chains in The World by Number of Locations (2020)
These stores are also called Quick Service Restaurants (QSR).
Out of the top fifteen, only Jollibee originated from the Philippines. The other largest fast food chains in the world are American brands.
Subway is the most popular chain with over 41,000 locations, followed by McDonald's and Starbucks. At a distant fourth is KFC as Burger King rounds out the top five.
What's most striking is that all of these fast food chains are of Western cuisine, even for the case of the Filipino brand Jollibee. Most of them specialize in sandwiches and burgers. Three are pizza chains. Taco Bell is only "Mexican-inspired" and in fact sells American food. Two, Starbucks and Dunkin', are coffee shops. Only Orange Julius is a chain of fruit drink beverage stores and Baskin Robbins is an ice-cream chain.
